As you can see from the picture below we are already tying up some new UV wing Monkey coneheads for spring 2023,(and so it begins!) these are going to be deadly. Summer fishing in the Nortt of Scotland especially has been very good so the trend is that the following spring could be good too, this is often the case so lets hope it turns out that way, not too long to wait now.

RS SuperSquid FL Conehead

There are some big salmon getting caught especially on the river Tweed so we have been tying lots of flies for the lucky anglers who are still fishing.

The latest request was for a bunch of our RS SuperSquid series of flies, one of which we have pimped with an FL Red conehead, check it out below and zoom in to see the awesome quality and balance of the fly, we think it looks great and if it fishes as well late season as the rest do for the whole season then it is going to cause havoc on sinking lines and tips.

Fly tying season & 2 + 1 deal on all flies.

It is a very busy fly-tying time here at Helmsdale Company with autumn salmon fishing really cranking up. Water temps are cooling nicely after a boiling summer and with plenty rain bashing the uk, salmon are on the move and snapping up our deadly weighted flies. The Helmsdale river had a solid finish to the season pushing the river to a score of well over 1000 fish including a 29 pounder. The most positive observation of the season would be the strong summer run which many anglers commented on being "just like the old days" great news indeed so lets hope there is a comeback next spring too which is often the case after a good grilse run.
